Gillian Humphrey- Principal

 Gillian Humphrey started dancing at the age of two and a half. She then went on to be a professional dancer performing in summer shows and pantomimes working alongside many famous people. After bringing up her family she decided she would like to teach. At the age of 32 Gillian went back to proffesional teacher training college and gained all her teaching qualifications. She then started Elston's school of dancing in 1995 which was very successful. Gillian has seen many pupils through professional dancing exams and pantomimes. Gillian has successfully put on over 5 "Twinkletoes" dance shows over the years which have all been a huge success. This year Gillian has gone into partnership with her Daughter Katie and they have renamed the school " Step 2 Step Dance Academy"

 

 

 

Katie Clapham- Principal 

Katie started dancing at the age of three. Katie gained many graded examinations in Ballet, Tap and Modern as a child. At the age of 16 Katie went on to a performing arts college where she gained a BTEC National Diploma with Distinction. Katie then decided she wanted to teach and went to the Penny Meekings Teacher training College. Here Katie gained all her teaching qualifications in Ballet, Tap, Modern and National Dance. Katie has worked at many different dance schools including the Italia Conti School of performing arts in central London. Katie has seen many children and students through professional dancing examinations who have all passed successfully. Katie has also passed many professional dancing examinations herself up to Advanced 2 level with an A grade. Katie has also performed in many dance shows including professional pantomimes, Vitality shows at London's Olympia and many other theatres in and across London.

Katie is currently performing as a showgirl with the "Andy Mawbey Swing from the Apple Shows". Katie loves her teaching and in 2009 became joint principal with her mother at the Step 2 Step dance Academy.

 

 

Lisa Finch- Dance Teacher   

Lisa has been dancing with Gill since the age of 3 when Step2Step Dance Academy (formally known as Elstons school of dancing) began at East Herts College. Now 15 years later , Lisa has performed in all of the "Twinkletoes" shows since their begining in 1997 and for the first time this year had the chance to choreograph some of the dances. At the age of 12, Lisa was given the opportunity to assist Gill on a Saturday which she still does today. In September 2009 Lisa started teaching classes in Primary Ballet and Tap and has since branched out into teaching Street Jazz and is enjoying every minute. Lisa has recently taken her exams in Intermediate Ballet, Intermediate Modern and Advanced One Tap and has just finished her A-levels, hoping to go to university in September to become a Primary School teacher. She aims to remain teaching for Step2Step.

 

 

  

Tina Finch- Secretary

Tina has been helping at the school fo over 14 years. Her two daughters Ellie & Lisa started dancing with Gill at the age of 4 and are still dancing with Step2Step today. Tina helps run the office at the Step2Step Dance Academy and orders all the uniform & costumes. We are very grateful to have Tina on our team.
